With Lambent, artist Kim Rose departs from her usual approach, embracing a bold reversal of process that led to unexpected depth and luminosity. Unlike her previous works, which typically evolve from back to front, Lambent was constructed in reverse—beginning at the surface and moving inward. The result is a piece that unfolded in real time, its final form revealing itself only at the very end. This shift in method opened new pathways of discovery and gave rise to a work layered with nuance, spontaneity, and light.

For Rose, Lambent marks the realization of a long-held creative impulse. After months of small-scale experiments and quiet exploration, she finally gave herself permission to pursue what simply felt right for this piece. The outcome is a radiant harmony of ink and gold, with materials flowing together organically—at times pooling, at others dissolving—like natural elements obeying their own quiet rhythm.

There is a gentle glow to Lambent, a sense of warmth emanating from within. In certain moments, light shines through the layers with an almost stained-glass delicacy, creating a surface that feels both intimate and alive.
