GENESIS NFT "SYDNEY"

“Sydney” represents Kim’s foray into the NFT world, and in keeping with her creative tradition, is inspired by a geographic location. This piece takes Kim’s usual inspiration one step further and actually mimics the weather of Sydney, Australia. For example, on a sunny day, “Sydney” appears bright and scenic. On a stormy night, however, “Sydney” appears dark and brooding. Displayed below  are the versions of “Sydney” based on the time and weather.

Through years of Kim’s artistic mastery, she’s taken interest in the poetic movement of her wet inks. Kim worked diligently to harness this organic flow and layer them in digital seamless loops, crafting the perfect marriage of movement and meditation for her principal NFT.

“I spent a lot of time dreaming up what the natural evolution was for my art into the digital world. I wanted it to be inspired by my existing work, but also have it push the boundaries of what was possible with technology.  Through many trials and errors in both concept and design, I finally came up with ideas that I felt were the most natural voice for my visions. Something that excited me. I finally came up with the concept of creating live art late at night. I remember grabbing my phone from my nightstand and writing down these ideas in my notes app.

The design of using wet ink for my art was actually my initial idea, and after trying many different ideas, I realized that my first idea of using wet ink was the closest to my heart. It was the most natural. Whenever I paint, I love watching the ink dance. I was always mesmerized by it.  I was finally was able to capture these movements and seamlessly loop them in a beautiful and exciting way".

“Sydney” is just the beginning for Kim Rose and her body of work: the mesmerizing and grounding nature of her physical pieces has entered the digital world to usher in a new era of Kim Rose Art.

SECOND NFT "THEMIS"

In Greek mythology, Themis is the goddess and personification of justice, divine order, fairness, law, and custom, and her symbols include the Scales of Justice.

Themis, unveiled at Kim’s solo art show Venus’s Garden, is an evolving NFT that shows the inequality between the sexes on a global scale. It is connected to live data showing objective and measurable benchmarks for global progress toward gender equality. The data is pulled from The World Bank’s “Women, Business, and the Law”, which is a database that pulls data from 185 countries and regions of the world. This database is divided into 8 indicators which are: mobility, workplace, pay, marriage, parenthood, entrepreneurship, assets, and pension.

Topics include but are not limited to:

Can a woman open a bank account in the same way as a man?
Is there legal provision that requires a married woman to obey her husband?
Is there legislation specifically addressing domestic violence?
Does a woman have the same right to remarry as a man?
Can a woman choose where to live in the same way as a man?
Is there legislation on sexual harassment in the workplace?
Does the law mandate equal remuneration for work of equal value?
Do sons and daughters have equal rights to inherit assets from their parents?

In our current day, where we have made much progress but still lacks total equality between the sexes, Themis is a display of pinks and red inks. If we regress, Themis becomes more red. As we progress, Themis becomes more pink and orange. Once the world reaches 95-100% equality, Themis turns to beautiful waves of gold. The unfortunate reality is that we may never see Themis turn pure gold in our lifetime. According to the World Economic Forum, it estimates it will take another century before true gender equality becomes a reality.
