Kim Rose's Jade series is deeply inspired by the traditional Japanese art of Kintsugi, a technique dating back four or five centuries. The term "Kintsugi" translates to "golden joinery" in Japanese, referring to the practice of repairing broken pottery using seams of gold. Rather than concealing the fractures, Kintsugi highlights them, transforming the broken into a feature that enhances the object’s beauty and strength. For Kim Rose, this process symbolizes the idea of being broken and then returning stronger and more beautiful than before.
