Photo captured in Tijuana, where our team built houses and gave medical assistance to those in need. After spending time serving with the team, my mom and I went to talk with people from the community. Many heartbreaking stories of unfortunate events were told. However, with these were also stories of hope and inspiration. Hope was created by the good people of the community. Hope was shared when the people joined together to care for each other. Hope was found in strangers who cared for their neighbors in need.
One thing that never ceases to amaze me is that, despite all the hardships the kids have gone through, they still have so much energy and joy. Their eyes lit up when we brought out bubbles and face paint for them to play with. For just some small sweet moments, they could forget their nightmares and burdens. For just some small sweet moments we all played and laughed, and I wouldn't trade those moments for anything in the world.
